KT Insurance recently had the pleasure of attending the prestigious CMCA Rally in Dalby, Queensland, an event that brought together a community of passionate RV enthusiasts from all walks of life. We were thrilled to be a part of this incredible gathering, where we had the opportunity to meet and engage with countless dedicated RVers. Among the many memorable encounters, one stood out - our conversation with Jan Hope, a long-term KT Insurance customer and the proud owner of an Iveco Daily Motorhome. Her remarkable journey embodies the core values of trust, support, and unwavering dedication that define KT Insurance.

A Medical Emergency in the Outback

Last year, Jan found herself in the heart of the Australian outback, 150 kilometers northeast of Alice Springs, at a local bush camp. Little did she know that her life was about to take an unexpected turn... A severe medical emergency struck when she was diagnosed with Giant Cell Arteritis, a condition that led to sudden blindness.

In her moment of need, Jan reached out to her eye specialist who strongly advised her to seek immediate attention at an optometrist or a hospital. One of her fellow campers kindly offered to drive her RV to Alice Springs, though it meant leaving her beloved dog, Topsy, behind.

Upon arriving at the Alice Springs optometrist, the situation quickly escalated. The optometrist recognized the severity of the issue and promptly contacted the hospital. The hospital responded by

flying in an ophthalmologist surgeon all the way from Sydney to perform an emergency operation on Jan. Throughout this harrowing ordeal, KT Insurance stood by her side, covering the costs of Jan's transport and accommodation during her recovery.

After a tough couple of weeks, Jan was finally reunited with Topsy and recalls 'the man who had her on the lead, when she saw me, she was pulling so hard he just let her go and ran and ran and jumped into my arms.'

A Breakdown on the Road to Recovery

Then earlier this year on another one of Jan's adventures, she encountered a clutch issue just outside of Tamworth, causing her to limp her vehicle into the nearest town. Jan sought help from a local auto electrician who, despite their best efforts, couldn't find the required part for the repair.

Facing yet another challenge, Jan promptly contacted KT Insurance. In a remarkable display of support, KT organized a $1000 taxi for her and Topsy, ensuring they got home safely. Jan also claimed the $600 breakdown towing allowance, paying the difference to have her motorhome towed to her residence, despite breaking down a daunting 266 kilometers from her home.

A True RV Enthusiast

Jan's unwavering love for the RV lifestyle has been a long-standing passion. Her journey began nearly 30 years ago while working at a liquor store, when she was inspired by a group of ladies who arrived together in their RVs. With each passing day, Jan became more enamored with the idea of owning a motorhome. She gradually reduced her working hours, eventually making her dream a reality by purchasing her very own motorhome. Jan recently completed an amazing trip, traveling the entire west coast of Australia with a close-knit group of friends in their RVs.

According to Jan, she and her friends absolutely adore the RV lifestyle, and her experiences with KT Insurance have reaffirmed her belief in the importance of reliable and supportive insurance coverage.
